Elementary School “Risto Proroković” Nevesinje
The Elementary School in Nevesinje is one of the largest schools in the Republic of Srpska. It became operational in 1886 in privately owned house of its first teacher, Risto Proroković. The School is now proudly named after him.
The school building was constructed in 1962. The teaching process for 1054 students is carried out in 12 buildings, of which ten are branch schools. Girls and boys from I to III grade are accommodated in prefabricated temporary building, which was constructed in 1994 through a UNESCO donation. Although that building is the most recently constructed, it is most ruined and damaged. The 280 youngest students of the School are attending classes in entirely inconvenient conditions. All efforts invested by the School Principal to raise funds and donations for the School were never very fruitful. EKI recognized their problem back in 2014, when EKI donated the School with desks and chairs for classrooms. So, this School needs assistance again and EKI was happy to respond to their request for donation.
The old, woody, bulky door at the entrance to the School seem to be deteriorated and worn out and not very safe. With the donation of new entrance door, EKI ensured the school with a safer entrance, which also enabled a more secure and warmer environment for the students.
The School Principal and all of their teaching staff and support staff members warmly greeted the representatives of EKI Trebinje/Nevesinje office and they expressed their gratitude for the donation. However, the happy and sincere smiles of the children served as the major motivation for EKI and indicated that our mission to take care of the community and invest efforts in contributing to better and more comfortable living, makes true sense.
